Burrinjuck Dam supports the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area, providing water, flood mitigation, and hydroelectricity. A 2017 inspection and remnant life analysis by WaterNSW identified rectifications to ensure the crane's continused safe and reliable operation.

The Wentworth to Broken Hill Pipeline was an initiative by the NSW State Government to supply Broken Hill with 37.4 megalitres of raw water per day via a 270km pipeline from the River Murray near Wentworth.

The NSW Government is continuing to work to develop the Greater Sydney Water Strategy. This strategy is examining a range of water supply and demand options to safeguard Greater Sydney’s water supply for the long term. 

Westernport Water identified CWWTP upgrade as a key component of its capital works program in it's Water Plan to address both Environmental Protection Agency licence compliance conditions and increasing inflow from the sewerage catchment.
